On 29th January Flying Mission Care Ministries was privileged to facilitate a 1 day workshop for children’s ministry workers in Gaborone. The workshop was presented by Mrs Kimberley Stahlke, who volunteered her time to run the event during a 2 week visit from her home in Canada. Kimberley has many years of experience as a Children’s worker and Sunday School director.Participants included 12 ministry workers representing 11 different faith based organisations. Topics covered: different learning styles, different age groups, ‘rotating workstations’ (different areas for songs, lessons, bible verses, activities), song and worship leading with children, bible memory verse memorisation, craft and game ideas, and teaching children how to pray. It was a very practical day that included front led teaching, group discussions and practical exercises (trying out craft ideas, games and memory verse teaching techniques).
Attendees expressed how enjoyable and useful the day had been. One children’s ministry worker stated, “This training has made a difference. I feel more confident now in working with children and teachers in our church.”
Another said, “Thank you so much for awarding us the chance to experience the warmth, love and godliness that came through in [the children’s ministry training] session. … ‘Miss Kimberly’ gave an excellent presentation. Actually, all of you guys at Flying Mission were excellent and made our time there a memorable experience. It was so uplifting. I feel so fired up to do this work.”
Flying Mission Care Ministries wants to express its thanks to Mrs Kimberley Stahlke for her willingness to give her time to run this workshop and help resource and encourage those involved in Sunday School teaching in Botswana.
