The Flying Mission Zambia fleet of aircraft dates from the late 1970’s to early 1980’s. We feel the aging of our planes in the increased maintenance needed on them. In the last couple of years, we have been looking for solutions to replace this fleet. Andy Kradolpher, Operations Manager, was in Austria in February of this year to test fly a new design.
Last weekend the company Diamond Aircraft, passed through Zambia with two new demonstrator aeroplanes, and spent a weekend here at our Lusaka base to showcase their product.
These are carbon fibre aircrafts with jet-fuel driven piston engines – very efficient – with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
60 visitors; people from all corners of Zambia, came to look: Civil Aviation, Air Force, flight school, charter operators, and private pilots – as well as enthusiastic Flying Mission family members!
