As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. ISAIAH 55:10-11
Pastor Chris Maphosa is a man of God who is passionate about serving the world’s forgotten children of Southern Africa through missions and the Today for Tomorrow (TFT) Teacher Training Program/Ministry. Today for Tomorrow is a discipleship, health and HIV and AIDS prevention program, targeting children of 14 years and below. It seeks to reach out to the whole child spiritually, physically, socially, mentally and in their emotional development.
As a full time donor supported Missionary with SIM (Serving in Mission), Pastor Chris coordinates the TFT programme across the 12 countries of the Southern Africa region. This involves him travelling to train people to implement this programme and to train others to be implementers and trainers. As a co-founder and developer of the curriculum and training materials, he is well qualified for this work.
Flying Mission Care Ministries (FMC) was pleased to receive him to visit the partners. FMC has been trained to implement TFT and also to help us run additional training.
Chris visited Botswana from the 11th to 21st September 2014. We thank God for him to have been able to come here to serve the people, especially those who took part in Today for Tomorrow training. The time he was here was relatively short but the impact of serving God, and teaching and preaching the gospel is always everlasting. During his visit, he managed to meet teachers and lead staff worship time at Believers Destiny Academy (primary school), visit Sedibeng Sa Lorato’ children’s programme, meet Sunday school teachers from Apostolic faith Mission church (AFM) in Gaborone who have been trained to use TFT and have implemented it. He also helped facilitate a 4 day TFT workshop with children’s ministry workers from Faith Based Organisations and churches.
His visit was very rewarding to us and the workshop attendees. His vision and accomplishment was to empower Sunday school teachers with skills they need to do their children’s ministry.
Workshop attendees gave very positive feedback on the TFT material and plan to use the knowledge and skills gained in their children’s ministry. Our prayer is that this work and equipping would multiply here in Botswana and much fruit would abound. Flying Mission had already received pledges to take TFT nationwide.
If you have gifts or skills to offer and the desire and willingness to come and support God’s work through Flying Mission in southern Africa then we would love to hear from you: http://flyingmission.org/contact.php
